You wake up from a dream of a life that might have once been yours. For a moment, you feel a disorienting sense of being lost and that something is terribly wrong. Then, the feeling passes, and you remember you've been here all along, safe in bed in the house you must have always lived in.

And still, the sense that something is off doesn't pass.

There are buildings that you feel you don't recognize, parts of your memories that don't seem to line up, or that are missing entirely. You remember Franklin Roosevelt being elected, but you can't remember what you ate for dinner last night. Even stranger is the sense that some people seem to know something you don't. Perhaps you'll get a strange look by the owner of the speakeasy as he passes you your drink. Perhaps you're only imagining it.

Perhaps you feel there is something more to your life than you are seeing... or perhaps nothing seems wrong to you at all.

Some of the clues are hard to find, and you may lose your life trying to get to them. Some of them are in plain sight. There is a mystery out there to be solved. The only question is... will you?

The Dark Fields is a memory loss mystery game set in Columbia City, a 1930 analogue for New York City. Characters will believe they have always been a part of this world and will actively guide the plot through world-building and exploration. Events will be focused on fleshing out the world and providing clues to the mysteries shrouded in the shadows of Columbia City.
